Situation 1: – SDPOA

I am selling my house. The closing is next week.

The Problem – I will be out of town next week for work.

The Solution – a Statutory Durable Power of Attorney allows me to designate a person as my agent to sign the closing papers on my behalf.

Situation 2: – MPOA

My wife and I are are involved in a serious accident leaving us both unconscious. The physicians are needing decisions from the family about treatment options.

The Problem – who will be making medical decisions?

The Solution – a Medical Power of Attorney allows us to designate the people who will be making medical decisions for us if we are unable.

The Statutory Durable Power of Attorney and Medical Power of Attorney are two very helpful documents to have in place.

PS. The Statutory Durable Power of Attorney is no longer effective upon the death of the person and cannot be used to withdrawal money or handle banking transactions after death; you need a Will in place for that.
