Let’s say your company performed some work for Mr. X.  He was pleased with the work.  Wisdom would recommend you have him sign Release of Claims against you.

Something like this:

(Mr. X) releases and forever discharges (You and Your Company) as well as the Company’s officers, agents, attorneys, employees, directors, principals, successors, and assigns, from all Claims, whether known or unknown, whether presently existing or that may exist in the future, related to (The Work you Performed for Mr. X).   “Claims” means any and all possible claims, liabilities, liabilities, damages, losses, demands, actions, causes of action, costs, expense, and liabilities, known or unknown, at law or in equity, originating in whole or part, on or after the date of this Release of Claims.

PS. The language above is to give you an idea of what would be helpful to you. Give us a call if you could use a release of claims; something a little more complete.  It will allow you to have peace knowing Mr. X will not be making claims against you later.
