If you are in the unfortunate situation of being landlocked (meaning – have no legal right to get to your property), here are a few options you may seek to obtain in order to obtain legal access to the landlocked property:
- Get an Easement from your neighbor. (best method)
- Attempt to prove there is an:
- Easement by Necessity (these are tough to prove).
- Prescriptive Easement (similar to proving adverse possession).
PS. If you are purchasing land – its typically a great idea to obtain a title commitment and a survey. If you do it will become clear if the land has no access.
