Evicting a tenant is not as easy as telling them to “Get out of my house”.
Texas eviction law has specific requirements to send notices to the Tenant and if the Landlord skips steps – it can delay it even more.
Most evictions begin with a written notice to vacate.
If the Tenant doesn’t leave the Landlord must file an eviction case.
We wouldn’t recommend “self-help” evictions – like changing locks improperly. Shutting off electricity and water. Removing the tenant’s stuff. All this creates just problems.
If you find yourself in a place where you need to evict a Tenant- go through the process correctly. We know it may be longer and more of a pain than you want but it’s the law.
